The surface of a tile is also distinguished by its visual and tactile characteristics:

  • A natural surface can be smooth and matt or have a slightly structured texture.
  • A structured surface shows all the characteristics of living stone: reliefs, sandy effects and ripples.
  • A lapped surface is glossy because it is polished through a mechanical process without removing material.
  • A polished surface is even glossier because it is mirror-polished, removing up to 1 mm of material from the pressed surface.
